May 16th - BAPTISMS!!!

May 16 email -

Howdy!  Espero que todo estén bien😇  things have been very good here in Corpus Christi.  Our friend Irma made a covenant with God and chose to be baptized!  Super amazing experience and a blessing to see someone enter into the fold of God.  I love this work and love the people I serve with.

What a blessing we had last night to hear words from God's Prophet.  In his talk, President Nelson reaffirmed divine truths of each of us that really stuck out to me:

1) We are Children of God
2) We are children of the Covenant
3) We are disciples of Jesus Christ

As we live by these 3 labels, we will be more united as brothers and sisters and Children of God.  What is the significance of these 3 truths?  In the new Testament, Jesus told his disciples:
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48)

Obviously, perfection is hard to achieve in this life.  In fact, it's impossible.  But Jesus was not taunting or teasing his disciples.  He was trying to teach them—and all of us— the divine truth of our destiny and potential.  Because we are children of the living God we have the possibility of becoming as he is.  That requires earnest effort on our part as President Nelson often says.  When we put in the effort and honor our covenants, are exactly obedient to the commandments of God, we access the power of the atonement of Jesus Christ to transform us to become like him.  And through him we may be come perfect as he is one day.  President Nelson also instructed us that we should know the truth of our own conversion.  Conversion to Jesus Christ requires being true to what we know.  It requires inviting and following the influence of the Holy Ghost.  Remember that we are here to have Joy. (2nd Nephi 20:22)
There is no greater Joy than the Joy we feel when we follow Jesus Christ and his gospel and as our knowledge and testimonies of him grow.

I'm grateful for these truths.  I'm grateful to be a son of God.  I love the lord and his gospel.  I know we all have the potential to become as he is and be with our families for eternity.  I love you all!  Always feel free to reach out🙂
