First full week in the field. Here are a few pics -  Today marked 1 week exactly that Mel has been in McAllen. I could tell by the look on his face that he seemed a bit overwhelmed! Getting up at 6:30 is not easy he told us. He usually wakes up several times at night and checks the time just to make sure he still has 'a bit more' to sleep. He is loving having Cole as his trainer. Cole is a hard working missionary! They have been biking all over the place, and are even being chased by dogs. Here is Mel's email from today -  Hey everybody!  Wow so I finished my first week of my mission.  Its been a crazy week, me and my comps have grinding hard in the work everyday.  The first few days were hard, I was missing home and it was tough, but thats just the mission life hahah.  We met a lot of cool people this week and taught some lessons, so I hopin we can get some baptisms soon.   So my trainer Elder Christensen is an animal.  He's so sick an...

MEL ARRIVED TO MCALLEN, GOT HIS NEW COMPANION. On Monday, November 23rd, at 4:30 am, we dropped Elder Mel Wilson off at the SLC airport. That was very VERY difficult. Mel is our second missionary, and it doesn't get any easier. We brought Brian & Christian, William, and our family. We were all in tears saying goodbye.  Today we found out that Elder Cole Christensen, who's family lives across the street from us and has been in our ward for the past 8 years will be Mel's trainer! We are so excited for this. Cole is a GREAT kid and will be an amazing trainer for Mel. They are in an area that is 3 hours away from the mission home. We are so thrilled to see the successes they will have!
