Elder Mel Wilson

  This past week was a bit rough!  Nearly 1/3 of the state of Texas lost power due to a very rare cold front and snow-storms all over the state. When Mel called us last Monday morning, he said it was 19° F outside. WHOA. He also told us that so many people and businesses thought the world was ending! Many businesses were closing because they honestly thought the world was coming to an end. To be honest, much of the state was in a 'state' of emergency.  He was supposed to complete the transfer to Elsa, TX on Tuesday, but that was pushed back to Friday the 19th. He will be with a new companion, Elder Taylor.   Jan 25th email -  Hola mis queridos amigos!  Woww, this week went by a lot slower than usual, but I had some awesome experiences!  Stay tuned to the end to hear a cool lil miracle:)  We were quarantined during the beginning of the week.  Laredo has been rising a lot in covid cases, so missionary work this week was mostly done by facebook!  It's definitely a bit of a challenge, but the joy felt through doing the lords work is always there:) and as of right now, we're not quarantined anymore and can continue going out to visit members and investigators. We had a baptism this week with our investigator Guillermo, which was super special.  He moved from Mexico a month ago, and we met him just 3 weeks ago and he wanted to strengthen his relationship with God.  3 weeks later after teaching him, he wanted to get baptized and confirmed.  Guillermo is an amazing man, and wants his family to learn of the gospel as well.     Jan 18th email- Well I'm 3 months in!  Crazy how fast it's been going tbh but yeee lets goo.  Unfortunately we're quarantined rn cuz caes of covid have been rising a lot in Laredo. The whole city is kind of in a mandate but not really, but we as missionaries have to pretty much stay inside this week so it kinda blows but we're gonna continue the lords work through that Facebook grind   but other than that, this past week was a good one.  Lots of good spiritual moments and my Spanish is improving each day.  We have some awesome investigators that we're teaching, one in particular is Guillermo.  This guy is such a beast!  He just came here from mexico like 3 weeks ago and just immediately started taking lessons with us!  He understands what we teach, he's reading the Book of Mormon and he's feeling the spirit.    It's so beautiful and special to see someone wanting to change their life for the better by coming unto Chri...
