Christmas/Light The World

Really cool story from Christmas day -

The BEST gift I've heard of this Christmas -
We were supposed to talk to Mel yesterday around 9am. He messaged us that 11 am would be better. 11 am came and went. 11:30. 11:45. We were getting anxious and wondering why he couldn't call yet. Family and friends came over to see and speak with him. We felt bad that they had to sit around and wait. We were growing a bit impatient.
Finally close to noon he Facetime'd us. When he explained why he couldn't call, my heart filled with gratitude and a sense of immense pride for why he hadn't called yet.
He and a group of other missionaries, working in conjunction with the Catholic Charities in his area, spent all morning making and serving sandwiches to countless migrants who had recently come across the border and were very hungry.
What an amazing thing to do on a Christmas day. He didn't care about what gifts were waiting for him under a tree. He and the other missionaries spent their entire Christmas morning serving others. I am in awe and love this example of Christ-like love and service.

Email from November 29 -

Hola que tal todos.  Gonna be a quick one but I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend!  I love you all and am grateful for you.  As Christmas season is coming up, it's super important that the center of our focus is on Jesus Christ and to share his light to all we can.   "Light the world" is the lords invitation for us:)

"I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end"  3rd Nephi 9:18

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16

Email and pictures from December (and after being transferred to La Joya. New companion is Elder Clark)

And it came to pass that after having tarried many days in the land of Harlingen, behold I did tarry out of the land and into the land of La Joya.

Wherefore me and my bretheren did go forth mightily to carry out the work of the lord.  And it came to pass the lord did bring about great and marvelous things according to our faith and diligence.  And it came to pass the the members did feed us many times, yea even everyday they did make us glorious  food.  In the which my companion Elder Clark and I did beef up which did make us large in great stature.   And behold there were many wild and ferocious dogs in the land that did attempt to smite us.  And we did defend ourselves, even by running and jumping over fences.  But behold we did go forth and find amazing children of God who were ready to receive the restored gospel.  Yea and their names were Ozzie, Luz and Crystal.  And they did receive the message of Christ and his gospel with such gladness of heart.

Yea, insomuch that we were filled with great joy.  For thus we see that when one is in the service of the lord, the lord doth bless him with exceedingly great joy.

And I would that ye should keep our beloved bretheren in your prayers, that they may progress towards the waters of baptism and partake of the goodness of Jesus Christ.  For I do know that Jesus Christ is the light and the life of the world.  And whosoever shall come unto him shall have eternal joy, yea this is my testimony, even so, Amen.

Hehe I love yall, have a great week and know that Jesus Christ truly lives and can change us to who he knows we can become if we let him, because of his grace and love:)
