Week 6 post - FIRST BAPTISM!!! - (12/28/20 email)
This weeks email (12/28/20)
Heyo everyone! Hope yall had a wonderful Christmas. I'd say mine was pretty great:) and yooo I finish my first transfer next week! Its crazy how fast its gone by. Anyways, this week has been the best week! I had my first baptism and it was seriously such a blessing. I'll lead up to that, but first let's talk about Christmas! So Christmas eve we went to one of our investigators house to Carol to his family. They also made some food for us and well, uh let's just say this type of food doesn't bring the most pleasure to the human soul. So it's called menudo. It's a soup that has like cow intestine and all this fun stuff:) So I tried that and unfortunately I ate the whole thing. It wasn't all that bad i guess but it really does not smell great lol. But hey, grateful to experience it
(Sorry this is so long but its worth it i promise) Aight so Christmas day! It started off by getting ready to go to a members house for breakfast, we ended up being an hour late cuz our car wouldn't turn on lol. After trying and trying, we decided as a district to say a prayer. We prayed and asked God for the car to be able to turn so we could make it to the members house. Well to our surprise the car didn't turn on hahahah. We ended up getting a ride from a super nice person. Well we still had a big problem and needed to fix our car, cuz we were going to go all around town, caroling to peeps. So as we got back to our apartment we went and tried to get our car to work. We ended up getting a handful of random strangers, helping us. A random lady gave us some jump starter cables. A random man used his truck to help is jump start our car and unfortunately our car still wouldn't turn on. Another amazing person, offered to help is replace our battery. This mans name is Johnny. The whole process took almost 3 hours, and this man was willing to help us, he went and drove 30 minutes, just to find us a spare battery to put into our car until we could replace it with a permanent battery. We ended up learning how to take apart and put in a batter into the car, and it was an awesome learning experience. We ended up getting the car to start and we finished our Christmas night with some Christmas Caroling. That night I learned a valuable lesson. We experienced the true meaning of Christmas. I realized that night, that we had prayed for the wrong thing earlier. We prayed for the car to turn on, rather than asking God to lend helping hands. God helped us by giving us helping hands that day, and giving other people the opportunity to serve as the Savior did, to help us with our struggles thay day. God works in mysterious and miraculous ways. I'm grateful for this experience
So as I mentioned, we had our first baptism! We baptized Adrienne. She is such an amazing light. She has been a huge example for us, and we're so proud of her. We met her 4 weeks ago, and have been meeting with her every other day since. She has gone through a lot of struggles and challenges in her life and its been a heavy burden for her. Ever since weve met with her, she has been learning and growing. On Christmas eve, she gave us a call and said she was ready to start a new life and be baptized.
Her faith to do so was simply just beautiful. We ended up baptizing and confirming her on Sunday:)
Alrighty sorry if that was overwhelmingly long lol. I hope yall had a Merry Christmas, and have a happy new year:)
